AI Vision for a GCC Retail Chain

AI vision for a GCC retail chain.

Delivered through our QBS Co. partnership: a regional retail chain gained computer-vision shelf intelligence and a unified inventory backbone — closing the gap between what the shelf showed and what the system believed, and converting stockouts and oversells back into sales.

Published June 14, 2026 · Updated June 19, 2026

The context

A multi-store retail chain across the GCC was selling against a stack of disconnected tools — storefront, POS, and warehouse each holding a different version of stock. On the floor, shelf gaps and planogram drift went unnoticed until a customer found an empty shelf. This program was delivered with and through the QBS Co. enterprise-delivery partnership.

The challenge

Inventory blindness is expensive at retail scale. IHL Group pegs inventory distortion — stockouts plus overstock — at roughly 6.5% of retail sales, and around 70% of online carts are abandoned, many at the exact moment stock or pricing looks wrong. With no single source of inventory truth, the chain oversold (cancellations, refunds, angry customers) and undersold (phantom stockouts hiding sellable goods) at the same time, while staff audited shelves by eye.

Our approach

How we delivered it.

  1. 1

Integrated storefront, POS, and warehouse into a single real-time inventory system of record so a sale on any channel decrements stock everywhere.

  2. 2

Deployed computer-vision shelf monitoring that detects gaps, out-of-stocks, and planogram drift and routes a restock task before a customer sees an empty shelf.

  3. 3

Added automated buffer and reorder-point rules with low-stock alerts so the chain stops both overselling and hiding sellable stock.

  4. 4

Tied vision and inventory data into one dashboard so store and supply-chain teams act on the same picture in real time.

What we built

  • A unified, real-time inventory system of record across storefront, POS, and warehouse
  • Computer-vision shelf monitoring for gaps, stockouts, and planogram compliance
  • Automated buffer / reorder-point rules with low-stock and reorder alerts
  • A shared store-and-supply-chain dashboard on one source of truth

The shelf and the system finally agree. We stopped selling stock we didn't have and stopped hiding stock we did — and the floor team sees a gap before the customer does.
